The City of Clayton is now recruiting for a part-time Police Records Clerk. The purpose of the part-time Police Records Clerk is to provide technical support to the department by processing police report information in the computer system and distribute reports, to provide customer service to the public, and other clerical duties. This part-time role will work within normal business hours (Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm). The exact schedule is somewhat flexible within those hours and the position will average 20-25 hours per week. The preferred candidate will work midday hours to assist with covering office staff lunch breaks.

The mission of the Clayton Police Department is to provide a safe and secure environment for the residents, business community, and visitors in the City of Clayton through the effective and efficient delivery of professional, positive, and innovative services. Long recognized as a leader among municipal police agencies in St. Louis County, the Clayton Police Department consistently endeavors to ensure the quality of its personnel and has historically fielded one of the best-educated, highly trained and most respected police forces in the metropolitan area. In keeping with its tradition as a leader, in the year 2000, the Department was among the first law enforcement agencies in the State of Missouri to successfully achieve accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Essential duties and responsibilities of the part-time Police Records Clerk Position:

  1. Reconciles and processes bond monies.
  2. Follows court orders to process expungements of CARE reports, file materials, and arrest entries.
  3. Answers and routes telephone inquiries to appropriate personnel as well as greet and assist walk-in contacts at the customer service counter.
  4. Respond to and send out approved report requests.
  5. Enters and files fugitive and FTA reports into the CARE system.
  6. Filing, scanning, data input and shredding duties on a regular basis to include (but not limited to): Approved Original Reports, Supplements, Fugitive & Warrant reports, Auto Accidents, Memos, Attachments, Juvenile Attachments, and teletypes.
  7. Sorts and delivers mail/faxes/phone messages to respective personnel throughout the day.
  8. Assists fellow personnel with parking signs, complaints, and questions.
  9. Assists with REJIS entries.
  10. Monitors prisoners in custody through use of Avigilon Control Center cameras.
  11. Process incoming subpoenas and notify officers as received.
  12. Process and maintain Tow Release Reports.
  13. Assist in the preparation of warrant applications.
  14. Update and upkeep Right-of-Way Activity Permits.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications of the part-time Police Records Clerk Position:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  3. Must successfully pass Criminal Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications of the part-time Police Records Clerk Position:
  1. REJIS certification.
